Anouschka takes place in the Bijlmermeer of Amsterdam. The Bijlmer is a neighbourhood that is known to be rich with culture, housing people of 130 different nationalities. In the game Anouschka, the culture of the neighbourhood is protrayed in four different areas: the market of the Kraaiennest, the statue of the Anton de Kom square, the Nelson Mandela Park - where the BLM protest was held in 2020 -, and Anouschka’s grandma’s appartment.
The environments start out in black and white, and slowly regain their colors the more the main character Anouschka advances throughout her storyline. A paper texture is added to the environments, to create a stop-motion feeling. These renders are of the finished colored environments that I worked on.
