Where There is Light is a 12 hour exhibition that combines nature with the digital. The Panamanian jungle is recorded as a pointcloud, on which VFX are applied. The colors change with the colors of the day - when the sun sets, the colors are orange, when the night falls, the colors become dark.

The exhibition took place in the Westerkerk in Amsterdam during ADE 2022. The screens were hidden in a mix of different tropical plants, and the scent of the forest was sprayed to create this peaceful, natural hub in the middle of the city.

Exhibition Space 3D

I worked on the 3D version of the exhibition, of which you can see the progression above. The final renders were used as a guide for the setbuilders, which they used to build the final exhibition.

These are pictures from the real in person exhibition. I helped set up the digital screens.

Tropical plants

These are some plants I modeled after some specific Panamanian tropical plant references. They were used for the 3D exhibition.

Pointcloud VFX

These are some screenshots from the digital part of the exhibition. These VFX were not done by me. I worked on cleaning up and preparing the pointclouds, and on cameras and renders within Unity.

Westerkerk Outside

I modeled the Westerkerk church with accurate scale. I went inside the building in real life to measure everything correctly, and also used the floor plans of the church and some online references.
